Easy Come...Easy Go

There has been a change to my busy life, after one month of employment with the most unique, interesting and dare I say insane company I was told that they don't have enough work for me and let me go.  The phrase "It has nothing to do with your talent and your ability to do great work" sounds a lot to me like "Its not you, Its me" in some cliche bad breakup. After the sheer shock, embarrassment and tiny bit of anger wore off I actually felt a bit relieved.  I knew that this was not going to me my forever job, and I was constantly day dreaming about anything I would rather be doing than staring at a computer designing presentations.
I have been told to "Do what you want, do what makes you happy", why does that request seem so difficult to me?  I am happy, I am so beyond blessed in my life, but why cant I at 30 something figure out what I want to do with my life.  There are so many things I love to do but why cant I figure out how to make that my career.  I love sewing, crafting, cooking, yoga, pets, babies, event planning, organizing, interior designing and so much more!  My husband says If only I could find a way to make Pintrest (By the way follow me on Pintrest) my job, I would be a millionaire!  But maybe he is on to something, why cant I make those things my job.  I think I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to be happy if I am working for someone else other than myself.  So until I figure that out I am going to be taking deep breaths and doing a lot of soul searching, good news is, I will be updating my blog more regularly!
On a different note, please visit my friends blog: Studio Twenty-Two
Not just because I am the focus of her last post but because I think she is quite possibly one of the most talented people I know and I feel so lucky to have her in my life and to have been such a vital part of Adam and my wedding day!  She is also a thirty something women that has talent oozing out of her that has a job but desires to have a career in the the things she loves.

Settling In

I know it has been weeks since my last post but things have been pretty busy in the Smith home.  Home, it is so wonderful to have a place to call home, and a wonderful home it is!  Adam and I have settled in quite nicely and things are starting to come together.  I realize that making our home cozy, comfortable and decorated just how we like it will be a process that will continue for years to come, but we will enjoy every minute of it.  Here are some pictures of a couple projects that Adam and I worked on the past weekend.  The first project was to make his childhood dresser transform from drab to fab ;) and the second was taking his grandmothers buffet table and giving it new life.  Enjoy the pictures!
Before.  Sorry I forgot to get a before with the drawers and hardware

Snow, Skating, Home & Job!!!

I know it has been a while since my last post and I apologize to anyone that has actually been patiently waiting for the next installment of Lives Entwined.  There have been so many new things in 2012 for Mr. & Mrs. Smith.  First exciting news is that it snowed in Franklin, TN!!  For a girl that has lived in Florida for 12 years, seeing the snow fall was wonderful, even if it was just a dusting!  Some more thrilling news is that I started coaching skating again.  It is wonderful to get back into something that I really truly love to do.  It is so weird though figuring out the dynamic, rules and regulations at a different rink after coaching at the same rink for my entire coaching career.  The next exciting news is that we are closing on a house next week!  We found a house just before Christmas that we absolutely fell in love with and we patiently waited to find out if we were going to make this house our home.  After lots of prayers and getting all of our duck were in a row we are ecstatic to close next week.  Right now however that means that our apartment is a disaster with all the packing going on.  I’m sure the weeks to come there will be plenty of design, decorating and Pintrest recreation posts.  I am so excited to make our house the home that both Adam and I have dreamt of and more thrilled to have friends and family come visit us!  The next very exciting news is that I got a JOB!  I actually start my new job as a Business Analyst on Monday and I am so overjoyed!  I have not been working since I moved here to TN in May 2011, with the move, wedding planning and the holidays I thought it was best to wait until the New Year to work.  Thankfully I found a great job and can’t wait to give you an update soon about it.  One more sensational update is that Adam and I had a great find at an Eddie Bauer store that was going out of business, two coffee tables for $15 each!  We are going to make it a weekend project to re-finish them to use in our living room and our bonus room.  I will for sure give you an update on our craftiness.

Ringing in 2012

It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone and the start to a new year has begun.  Adam and I got to ring in the new year in the most amazing way this year we went to Greenville, SC for the Avett Brothers concert with Christy & Alex! The concert was fantastic, Greenville is beautiful and spending the weekend with Christy and Alex was the best!  Here are just a few pictures of our wonderful weekend.

I know that 2012 is going to be an amazing year for us, our family and our friends!  We look forward to sharing more wonderful memories that 2012 has in store for us!

12 Ladies Dancing

I love the stage, as much as I love being on it myself I love seeing amazing singers, dancers and actors on stage even more.  There is something about the sparkly costumes, the false eyelashes, the wigs, the quick changes, the stage hands and the talent that feels magical.  Last night for a Christmas surprise Adam took me to the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at the Grand Olde Opry, it was wonderful.  I am so impressed with their perfection, synchronization and stage presence, their legs that go on for miles and their wide warm smiles.  If I grew up a dancer I would for sure have dreamed of being a Rockette, heck, I am not a dancer and still dreaming of being a Rockette.  These lovely ladies have been toe tapping and high kicking since 1925, which is very impressive that still today that it is one of the most-watched live shows in the United States, with over 2 million viewers per year.  Anyone that has a chance to go out and catch this live, go see it, you wont be disappointed.
